It is always nice taking a holiday to support the environment and give back to your community. This Labor Day I went for my first day of community service this morning. I have set a personal goal of 50 hours of service.
There was a beautiful orange sunrise; the sun itself was like a deep red disc, hovering above the horizon.
I am doing my service at the local landfill. There I mostly pickup stray bits of trash by the way side.

The place was swarming with the local black vultures, who fought over scraps of meat from out the bags of trash.
Small pockets of green shrubbery along the roadside held these little red flowers. I could help but take a few shots.
